BEFORE YOU MOVE ON: Becoming a nonsmoker
What do you see when you look at yourself? Try to imagine yourself as a nonsmoker, even though this might be hard to do. A nonsmoker does not consider smoking an option in any situation. How can you make this happen for you?

Try one of these simple exercises before you quit:
1. Ask nonsmokers how they handle difficult situations.
What things do they do to deal with stress or boredom? Smokers often go outside to smoke on their breaks. What do nonsmokers do?
2. Think of a time when you had to change your self-image.
Some examples include: becoming a parent, getting married, receiving a promotion, going into retirement. Did the new role feel natural right away? Or, did it take some time to get used to it?
3. Imagine what your life would be like now if you were a nonsmoker.
How would you feel about yourself?
You can go back to being a nonsmoker. Remember, you had to learn how to be a smoker, so you can also learn how to be a nonsmoker again!
